Amaryllis Virginia Garnett (1943-1973) was Vanessa Bell’s first grandchild. The child’s mother, Angelica, was the daughter of Bell and Duncan Grant. A rift occurred between mother and daughter as a consequence of her marriage in 1942 to David Garnett. Garnett was 25 years older than Angelica and had been Duncan Grant’s former lover. 41 40
