www.sworder.co.uk 73 104-308 MODERN BRITISH, 20TH CENTURY AND CONTEMPORARY ART Austin Moseley was born in Staffordshire in 1930 and lived his whole life in the West Midlands. His work shows his close connection with the small communities of the Black Country. There is a light-hearted affection to the characters in his paintings who are often shown in the early morning or late evening. His work can also be recognised by his use of paint applied thickly with a palette knife to add texture and a slight abstraction of the subject matter. Mosley was a member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and he also exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Oil. 141 142 144 143 Lot 143 *Austin Moseley (1930-2013) Sunset over a town signed with initials l.r., oil on canvas 16 x 13.5cm £400 - 600 Lot 144 *Austin Moseley (1930-2013) ‘A walk in the fog’ signed with initials l.r, oil on canvas board 20 x 15.5cm £1,000 - 1,500 Lot 141 *Fred Cuming RA (b.1930) Hastings Beach signed l.l., oil on board 25.5 x 31cm £1,000 - 1,500 Provenance: With Abbott and Holder, London.
